The Fox and the Crow

Don’t you just hate it when vanity ruins a good thing?  And don’t you love being around people who seem to have no vanity at all?  Those meek and humble people, all over the world, inspire me and I love them.

Vanity can canker your soul and ruin your life.  The history books are full of countless tragic stories where vanity was at fault.  There are several things we can do keep a proper perspective.

What else can we do to apply this principle?

You May Be Blind And Not Even Know It

There are many walking in darkness at noonday, blind to all that surrounds them.  And if we are honest with ourselves, we must admit that there are things that we are blind toward as well.  What are the things in your life that may be causing blind spots in your perspective and view of life?  Limiting beliefs?  Pessimism? Prejudice? A small reality?  Lack of knowledge and experience?  Let’s do all we can to make sure that we and our children can see clearly; hopefully through God’s eyes.

The Bat and the Weasels

The rate of change continues to increase each year.  Technology is changing everything.  How fast can you adapt?  Are you too rigid and inflexible?  Each of us must be able to adapt and change, and learn and grow, if we are going to be successful in the future.  Holding on to the old ways, or even the current ways of doing things will cause us to be left behind the ever-changing tide of life.  True, some things, like high standards, should never change.  But those things that can change, will, and we must be able to change (improve) with them!

The Mice in Council

A great idea has value when it is acted upon.  Action often requires risk.  Will you do it anyways?  I will!  We must discipline ourselves to think and act, think and act.  Then, and only then, will we get the great rewards in life.  Do you want to be closer to God, wiser, healthier, kinder, wealthier, and more influential?  Then you and I must consistently capture great ideas and act on them!  Even if they’re risky.  Billionaire Jon Huntsman said, “Leadership is about taking risks.  If your life is free of failure, you’re not much of a leader.  Take no risks, and you risk more than ever.  Leaders are called on to enter arenas where success isn’t covered by a warranty, where public failure is a real possibility.”

Look Up And Live

Make sure that during the routine of life you take time to look up and see all the wonderful things that life has to offer. Take time out to create memories with family and friends, and love them. Look up and see all the opportunities to make a difference and then do something. Look up and behold the incredible creations of God, and thank Him for them. Mining Within

“It is not in the stars to hold our destiny, but in ourselves.”  William Shakespeare

“It is wrong to think that misfortune come from the east or from the west; they originate within one’s own mind.  Therefore, it is foolish to guard against misfortunes from the external world and leave the inner mind uncontrolled.”  Buddha

“Everyone is the architect of his own fortune.”  Mathurin Regnier

“Men at some times are the masters of their fates.”  William Shakespeare

“To be thrown upon one’s own resources is to be cast into the very lap of fortune: for our faculties then undergo a development and display an energy of which they were previously unsusceptible.”  Benjamin Franklin

Many of our failures in life are because of a lack of resourcefulness, not a lack of resources, as we sometimes erroneously assume, blame and excuse.  If we are to accomplish the noble things that lie within our reach, we must dig deep within ourselves to draw out the God-given resources buried there.  You have the power within you to achieve great heights.  Mine within to bring them out!  Discover. Share. Inspire.

Infection of the Mind

We know that wounds can get infected, that computers can get viruses, but we don’t often consider that our minds can become infected too.  And those infections can be the most damaging.

Someone once said, “You are what you think about most of the time.”  That’s a true statement.  Thoughts lead to feelings which lead to desires.  Desires turn into actions and then habits, and your habits shape the person you become.

Sometimes our thoughts can get infected with criticism, negative self-esteem, doubt, pessimism, negativism, depression, cynicism and other ism’s.  We must be diligent to protect our mind and direct our thoughts!

Remember What You’re After

Have you ever lost focus on what you really want?  Of course, we all do sometimes.  It is so easy to get distracted by less important objectives, or just to forget what we are truly going after.

It is so critical to remember what we are trying to achieve.  Why do you go to school?  Why do you go to work, to church or anywhere?  We have got to remember why we decided to do something, and work toward that goal.

Keep yours eyes, your mind and your actions on target.  Whether it is at home with family, in the gym, in the library, or on vacation, remember what you are after and let that drive you to excellence.
