How To Gain An Attitude Of Gratitude

Cultivating an ‘Attitude of Gratitude’ can totally transform your life. Living with thankfulness changes the way you see your world and radiates out to those around you.

We Can Carry the World in Our Pockets

We live in an incredible time in the world's history. Never before have we —as human beings—had so many opportunities, blessings and resources. We practically carry the world in our pockets (phones); we can communicate globally...across time zones and borders; we live in a time of phenomenal advances in technology; we experience relative prosperity. It's truly amazing!

Amidst all this unprecedented wealth and human advancement, so many people are lacking in gratitude. It has become easier, in our society, to take a lot of things in life for granted. Chief among these things we take for granted is our health. Just the fact that you are able to read this is a cause for gratitude. Take time to be grateful for your hearing, your hands, your body, your senses, and even the wonder of being alive. These are of inestimable blessing! Yet, it is easy—in our consumer-driven society—to fall out of the habit of gratitude, to get frustrated, to live in a continuous state of discontentedness. Sadly, hours of frustration turn into days, days turn into weeks, weeks into months, months into years and then years into the entirety of one’s life! What a tragedy that we spend our lives, our time, our energy not focused on gratitude, but instead focused on what we may lack.

How to Make Grateful Your Way of Being

Thus, I challenge you to cultivate an attitude of gratitude. Instead of being frustrated, just make a little pivot. When difficulties, trials and challenges come {as they inevitably will} say 'I am so grateful for all the goodness in my life.

Make happiness and gratitude your way of being. I went through some hard times! I was out on my own at an early age, I felt loneliness, hurt, depression and even physical disability. But I let gratitude become my way of being. Making that small, but powerful effort to focus on gratitude brought me through that time of desperation. Therefore, no matter what struggles arise, let gratitude become your way of being. Let gratitude seep into your mind, your heart, your feelings and your soul so that, when you wake each morning, you thank God for this life and for another chance! I challenge you even further to radiate a cheerfulness and a sincere thankfulness...express it! If we say it...we feel it and it radiates to others. Always look for and create all kinds of opportunities to sincerely express your gratitude to others.

Life is good!

For the rest of our lives, let's make gratitude our way of being!
